The application manual contains an overview of Relay Retrofit Program for REX 521

and the application description. The manual describes how the program deliverables

can be used in the relay retrofit application. The manual also provides information on

the retrofit process and the recommendations for the supported relay types.

The configuration migration support guidelines provided in the application manual

show the steps composing the process of migrating the existing REX 521 relay

configuration and parameters to the replacement relay.

Document conventions

A particular convention may not be used in this manual.

• Abbreviations and acronyms are spelled out in the glossary. The glossary also

contains definitions of important terms.

• Parameter names are shown in italics.

The function can be enabled and disabled with the Operation setting.

• Parameter values are indicated with quotation marks.

The corresponding parameter values are "On" and "Off".

• Input/output messages and monitored data names are shown in Courier font.

When the function starts, the START output is set to TRUE.

When the relay uses the RS-485 bus for the serial communication, both two- and four wire connections are supported.

Termination and pull-up/down resistors can be configured with jumpers on the communication card so external resistors are not needed.

The relay supports the following time synchronization methods with a time-stamping resolution of 1 ms.
