Pneumatic Collet Chuck

The ASR1100 greatly simplifies workholding with an integral pneumatic

collet chuck, configurable to order based on your tube processing application

requirements. Options include:

ER16 Collet Chuck: Ideal for general high-precision manufacturing, ER16

collets accommodate a wide range of tube sizes ranging from 0.5–10.0 mm

outer diameter. Each ER16 collet size supports up to a 1 mm tube diameter

range (e.g. 2.5–3.5 mm, or 5.0–6.0 mm). ER16 collet chucks are normally-

closed, requiring air pressure to open. Aerotech recommends Rego-Fix ER

collets manufactured to ISO 15488 / DIN 6499 specifications.

W12 Collet Chuck: Ideal for processing longer tubes ranging from 0.3–8.0

mm outer diameter, especially when the tube “feed-and-advance” accuracy

is paramount (such as when processing longer tubes requiring multiple “grip

-advance-regrip” operations). Because this is a dead-length collet, axial error

motion during tube advance is negligible. This minimizes spot-placement and

stitching errors. W12 collet chucks are normally-open, requiring air pressure

to close.

A Better Approach to Vertical Motion

The vertical lift approach offers an alternative to traditional Z-plane oriented

stages. Not only do the AVS100 series stages offer a lower profile, but the

load can also be accessed easily from any side. And by centering the payload

over the bearings, there are no cantilevering effects. The AVS100 series stages

provide a space-saving alternative to traditional XYZ systems and are equally

suited to laboratory and industrial applications. Optional stage finishes are

available for various environments, including vacuum preparation.

All AVS100 series stages are equipped standard with integral limit switches and

mechanical hard stops. The stage tabletop is treated with a Teflon®-impregnated

hardcoat (Rockwell 62 hardness) that is scratch-resistant and provides outstanding

protection in the harshest environments. The stage itself has a black anodize finish.

Aerotech’s AVS100 series stages offer a solution for applications that require

very small incremental movements in elevation above a horizontal plane.

Low profiles and precise motion capability make these stages ideal for use

in semiconductor wafer inspection and testing, fiberoptics assembly and

inspection, automated tool alignment, machine vision inspection systems

and laser machining applications.

The AVS100 series provides precise elevation of a load in a vertical plane. 

Rotational movement of a precision-ground ballscrew is converted into

vertical elevation of the AVS100 series tabletop.

Sealed linear motion guide bearings with integral wipers are incorporated

to provide excellent payload capability, long life, and smooth, precision

motion. Stable and parallel vertical motion with no rocking or horizontal

deviation of the platform is ensured.

Careful mechanical design allows the AVS100 series to achieve submicron

resolution and still maintain a compact profile. The optional factory

calibration option is available to further increase standard accuracy and

repeatability.

Optional Wet-Cutting Capabilities

Does your manufacturing process involve liquid coolant or another cutting

fluid? No problem. ASR1100 is configurable for wet-cutting, thanks to an

optional fluid rotary union. The -WCUT option provides a fluid inlet and

eliminates the need to manage hose rotation and wind-up. Cutting fluid can

then safely flow through the rotary axis’s hollow shaft and the workpiece.

Consider the dry-cut option if cutting fluid is not required or if you prefer to

integrate your own external wet-cutting features.

Options Include Vacuum Preparation for 10-6 torr

A number of options increase the flexibility of the VTS300 series stages for

a wide range of applications. Vacuum preparation for operation in vacuum

chambers to 10-6 torr is available. The stage also has movable limit switches

so that customers can adjust the travel range.
