Configurable DC Power Monitoring
Four analog inputs allow the user to remotely monitor DC voltages from 0 to
30 Vdc. Each input can be configured with two setpoints to report when voltage
drops below the specified levels. The analog to digital converter is 12 bit and
averaging is done over 128 samples to increase resolution to 16 bits.
Analog metering data is updated every 64 ms.
The M‑2979 includes the capability to change out the Recloser Control
and Cabinet as one component. The M‑2979 Recloser Control Cabinet
and M‑7679 R‑PAC combination includes all the required interface
connections and external communications capabilities that are necessary
to replace an existing recloser control.

The M‑2979 Recloser Control Cabinet meets or exceeds NEMA 250. IEC
60529 and IEEE C37.60.
Each M‑2979 Recloser Cabinet can be configured with the optional support
equipment to match the existing recloser control application and environment,
or the cabinet can be supplied completely empty.
The M‑2035 Interface Module monitors power supplies and battery chargers
used in Reclosers that have been retrofitted to operate with Beckwith
Electric's M-7679 R-PAC system. This analog to digital interface measures
voltage, current, and current direction which can be monitored with the
same S-7600 IPScom communication software used with the recloser control.
The interface module can be DIN rail mounted during installation of the
M-7679 R-PAC and includes a SATA cable for easy hookup to the Aux I/O port
in the recloser control. The module will accept 8 to 30 Vdc power from the
existing power supply and batteries.
The module features essential indicator lights for battery and communication
status plus on‑board and remote manual wake-up pushbuttons to restore
function after a power failure. Four extra analog to digital inputs are available
for voltage measurements up to 30 Vdc. The module is able to periodically
test the batteries by briefly disconnecting the charger with a high side switch
and switching on a resistive load for five seconds.
The M‑0127A AC Current Relay is primarily designed as a recommended
addition to the Circulating Current or Delta VAr1 Paralleling configurations
used with LTC Transformers. Its purpose is to monitor the current in the
circulating loop between transformers, and interrupt Motor Power to its
monitored transformer, should the circulating current exceed a
predetermined value. The M‑0127A range permits the maximum circulating
current to be set from 5% to 50% of the rated full load current.
Other relays used for this purpose have an impedance exceeding 5.000 Ω
which may cause the main CT to saturate, making the entire circulating
current scheme operate poorly. The low impedance of the M‑0127A relay
avoids this problem.
The output should be connected in series with the common lead of the
automatic control circuit of the motor starter relay. When used with the
Beckwith Electric M‑0067E control, the M‑0127A output contacts will be
in series with the lead that would otherwise have gone directly to terminal
TB1‑8 of the M‑0067E. Polarity of the M‑0127A input and output can be
ignored.
The M-7679 R-PAC offers protection, automation, and control capabilities
for recloser, switch, sectionalizer, and advanced distribution automation
applications. It has over 30 protection elements for optimal protection
of power distribution systems. It is compatible with three-phase ganged
and independent phase capable switching devices such as reclosers,
switches, sectionalizers, and breakers. It has up to six standard or low
energy analog (LEA) voltage inputs. The M-7679 R-PAC has a recloser
settings wizard that assists in creating files for most common settings
for recloser applications. The comprehensive I/O matrix provides visual
confirmation of enabled functions and selected outputs, improving security.
Additionally, it includes one of a kind Sensitive Ground Indicator feature to
detect high-impedance faults on the distribution line.
The M‑2067B is an adapter panel which, when combined with the M‑2001
Series Digital Tapchanger Control, provides convenient direct replacement
for Westinghouse SVC and SVR controls and Beckwith Electric M‑0067
series controls. The M‑2067B can also be used, with the M‑2001 Series
Tapchanger Control, as a general purpose LTC transformer control.
The M‑2067B permits changing of the M‑2001 control without adapter
panel removal or rewiring.

The M‑2053 is an adapter panel which permits M‑2001 Series Digital
Tapchanger Controls to be surface‑mounted while providing access points
for wire terminations.
Testing Specifications
High Voltage: All input and output terminals will withstand 1500 Vac rms to
chassis or instrument ground for one minute with a leakage current not to
exceed 25 mA, for all terminals to ground. Input and output circuits are
electrically isolated from each other, from other circuits and from ground.
Surge Withstand Capability: All input and output circuits are protected against
system transients. Units pass all requirements of ANSI/IEEE C.37.90.1-1989
defining surge withstand capability.
Radiated Electromagnetic Withstand Capability: All units are protected against
electromagnetic radiated interference from portable communications transceivers
as outlined in ANSI/IEEE C37.90.2-1987 defining radiated electromagnetic
withstand capability.
• M-2948 Tap Position Sensor directly mechanically replaces the Selsyn-Type Tap
Position Sensor.
• Directly interfaces with a 4 to 20 mA output to the M-2025D Current Loop Interface
which provides the tap position to the M-2001 Series Tapchanger Control.
• Rotation – 0 to 210°, 297°, 306°, 315°, 325°, 330°, 340° and 350° configurations
• Degrees per Tap – 9° or 10°
• Neutrals – 1, 2, 3, 5 or 6
• Rotation Direction – Tap Position Sensors are available with either a positive
or negative rotation. With positive rotation, the shaft of the M-2948 rotates
clockwise while raising taps. With negative rotation, the shaft of the
M-2948 rotates counter-clockwise while raising taps.
