The PACSystems RX3i family provides advanced diagnostics and high performance I/O.
With a modular design and multiple expansion options, RX3i is the perfect I/O solution for your process, hybrid,
and discrete applications.
Modular, High-Speed Performance RX3i is a rack-based system with a wide range of modules covering digital,
analog, and numerous other specialty I/O types.
These pluggable and hot-swappable modules allow you to customize the right mix of I/O, with a variety of voltage ranges and current capacities supported to meet
all your application needs. Regardless of the I/O mix you choose, RX3i is built on high speed interfaces to provide rapid and consistent data transfer.
Highly Scalable
With the ability to pair I/O, RX3i allows you to scale your system with ease.
In addition to I/O that you can put on the main rack, you can expand locally or remotely to connect to additional racks of I/O.
In fact, RX3i can support as few as 8 I/O points and up to 32 thousand I/O points in a single system.
With 7 to 16 slot backplanes and 1 slot expansion options, you can create the perfect system to fit your needs.
Genius Global Data
The Series 90-30 PLC supports very fast sharing of data between multiple CPUs using Genius global data.
The Genius Bus Controller, IC693BEM331 in CPU, version 5 and later, and the Enhanced Genius Communications Module,
IC693CMM302, can broadcast up to 128 bytes of data to other PLCs or computers.
They can receive up to 128 bytes from each of the up to 30 other Genius controllers on the network.
Data can be broadcast from or received into any memory type, not just %G global bits.
The original Genius Communications Module, IC693CMM301,
is limited to fixed %G addresses and can only exchange 32 bits per serial bus address from SBA 16 to 23.
For new installations, we recommend this module not be used;
instead, use the newer enhanced GCM, which has considerably more capability.
Global data can be shared between Series Five, Series Six, and Series 90 PLCs connected to the same Genius I/O bus.

Regardless of the I/O mix you choose, RX3i is built on high speed interfaces to provide rapid and consistent data transfer.
Two LEDs on the Mini Converter indicate activity on the transmit and receive lines.
The Converter Plug is required to convert the 9-pin serial port connector on the Mini Converter to
the 25-pin serial port connector on an IC647 computer, an IBM® PC-XT, or a PS/2® Personal Computer.
The IC640 industrial computer requires an additional adapter (not supplied – please contact your local PLC distributor) for use with the Mini Converter.
Tables 1 and 2 list the Mini Converter pinouts. The direction of signal flow is with respect to the Mini Converter.
The Series 90-30, 90-20, and Micro PLCs are members of the GE Fanuc Series 90 family of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
They are easy to install and configure, offer advanced programming features, and are compatible with the Series 90-70 PLCs.
The 341 and lower Series 90-30 PLCs and Series 90-20 PLC use an 80188 microprocessor.
The 35x and 36x series of 90-30 PLCs use an 80386EX microprocessor.
The 37x series of 90-30 PLCs use a 586 microprocessor.
The Series 90 Micro PLC uses the H8 microprocessor.
Both program execution and basic housekeeping tasks such as diagnostic routines, input/output scanners, and alarm processing are supported.
System Configurations
The Mini Converter can be used in a point-to-point configuration as described above,
or in a multidrop configuration with the host device configured as the master and one or more programmable controllers configured as slaves.
The multidrop configuration requires a straightthrough (1-to-1) cable from the Mini Converter’s RS-422 port to the first slave PLC’s SNP port.
Other slaves will require a daisy chain connection between slaves.
A maximum of eight devices can be connected in an RS-422 multidrop configuration.
All of the devices must have a common ground.
If ground isolation is required, you can use the Isolated Repeater/Converter (IC655CCM590) in place of the Mini Converter.
When using the Mini Converter with a modem connection,
it may be necessary to jumper RTS to CTS (consult the user’s manual for your modem).
Cable Diagrams (Point-To-Point) When connecting the Mini Converter to IBM PC and compatible computers with hardware handshaking,
