X-CI 24 51 is a NonSIL counter module intended for use in the programmable electronic system
(PES) HIMax.
The module can be inserted into any of the base plate slots with the exception of the slots
reserved for system bus modules. For more information, see System Manual (HI 801 001 E).
The module is used to count the pulses, to measure the frequency and the rotational speed
and, if defined, to recognize the rotation direction. Two channels are required to use the
recognition of rotation direction function, see Chapter 4.5.4.

Proximity switches in accordance with EN 60947-5-6 (NAMUR) or control circuit devices of
type 3 in accordance with EN 61131-2 can be connected to the counter module. Proximity
switches and control circuit devices may not be operated simultaneously.
It can be operated with safety-related modules and other NonSIL modules within one base
plate. Safety-related and NonSIL modules may not be wired redundantly.
The module is interference-free, in particular, with respect to EMC, electrical safety,
communication to the X-SB and X-CPU modules, as well as the user program.
Module and connector boards are mechanically coded, see Chapter 3.6.1. Coding avoids
installation of improper I/O modules.
Refer to the HIMax Safety Manual (HI 801 003 E) for more information on the standards used to
test and certify the modules and the HIMax system.
The X-DI 16 01 digital input module is intended for use in the programmable electronic
system (PES) HIMax.
The module can be inserted in any of the base plate slots with the exception of the slots
reserved for system bus modules. For more information, refer to the System Manual
(HI 801 001 E).
The module is used to evaluate up to 16 digital input signals. The digital inputs are current
sinking logic for 48 VAC to 120 VAC signals in accordance with IEC 61131-2 ( based on
type 1).
The module has been certified by the TÜV for safety-related applications up to SIL 3
(IEC 61508. IEC 61511 and IEC 62061), Cat. 4 (EN 954-1) and PL e (EN ISO 13849-1).
Refer to the HIMax Safety Manual (HI 801 003 E) for more information on the standards
used to test and certify the modules and the HIMax system.
Safety Function
The module evaluates the digital input signals and provides them to the user program.
The safety function is performed in accordance with SIL 3.
Reaction in the Event of a Fault
If a fault occurs, the module adopts the safe state and the assigned input variables transmit
the initial value to the user program.
The initial values must be set to 0 to ensure that the input variables transmit the value 0 to
the user program if a fault occurs.
The module activates the Error LED on the front plate.
Communication Features of HIQuad X
A new communication module F-COM 01 comes included with HIQuad X. It supports the consistent
HIMA security concept. With HIQuad X, you have new opportunities as well as well-known existing
communication paths. Additionally, HIQuad X increases the availability of the communication to
redundant third-party systems.
You can connect HIQuad X systems to each other via the HIMA safety protocol SafeEthernet. Also,
HIMax, HIMatrix systems and RIOs can be combined safely. To establish a safety-related connection to
existing HIQuad installations, the protocol HIPRO-S V2 is implemented in HIQuad X.
• 2 Ethernet interfaces on F-CPU 01 and F-COM 01.
• Interference-free, peer-to-peer connections between each F-CPU 01 and each of the up to
• 10x F-COM 01 modules.
• The whole IP address range can be used.
• Enhanced communication options such as subnet masks and virtual LAN to segregate nets can
be programmed.
• One serial interface per F-COM 01.
Technical Highlights
• Two systems: H51X and H41X
• Common usage of the same modules for H51X and H41X
• Supports 24 existing HIQuad I/O modules
• Per H51X system up to 16 I/O extension racks with up to 256 I/O modules
• Per H41X system with up to one I/O extension rack with up to 28 I/O modules
• Flexible I/O architecture mono and redundant loops can be mixed, which reduces footprint
• Reload of application, hardware and communication
• Reduced cycle times
• Faster REAL calculation
• Freedom of interference between F-CPU 01 and I/O modules
• Cross connection between modules increases system availability
