Beckhoff ELX4154 | EtherCAT Terminal, 4-channel analog output, current

The ELX4154 analog output terminal is used for the direct connection of

intrinsically safe field devices located in hazardous areas classified zone

0/20 or 1/21. It can be used, for example, to control intrinsically safe

controllers for control valves. The output current range can be switched

between 0…20 mA and 4…20 mA.

EtherCAT terminals of the ELX series must always be operated in

conjunction with the ELX9560 power supply terminal. This terminal

generates an electrically isolated output voltage (24 V EX) from the input

voltage (24 V DC) for supplying the subsequent ELX terminals.

If a new power supply is required, the combination of an ELX9410 and

an ELX9560 can be used so that further ELX terminals can be added.

The ELX terminal segment must be terminated with one ELX9012. two

ELX9410 or one EK1110. The use of two ELX9410 allows the use of EL

terminals behind ELX terminals. With the EK1110. the terminal segment

can be continued via an EtherCAT cable, for example to implement cable

redundancy.

The EL4124 analog output terminal generates signals in the range between

4 and 20 mA. The power is supplied to the process level with a resolution of

16 bits and is electrically isolated. Ground potential for the output channels

of the EtherCAT Terminal is common with the 24 V DC supply. The output

stages are powered by the 24 V supply. The EL4124 has four channels. The

signal state of the EtherCAT Terminal is indicated by light emitting diodes.

The EM3701 analog input terminal measures the differential pressure between

two hose connections in a measuring range of ±100 mbar. The pressure value

is directly available to the controller as a 16-bit value, and errors such as out-

of-range values are also displayed. The compact design and simple connection

system support space-saving and quick installation with no need for additional

measuring devices.

The terminal can be used to measure pressure or also to replace a pressure

switch. It is not suitable for measuring aggressive gases. The pressure value

in the controller enables the switching threshold to be stored as a parameter

for a logical operation.

Manually setting the pressure switch in the application is therefore no longer

required.

The ELX3314 analog input terminals allows the direct connection of thermocouples

located in hazardous areas classified zone 0/20 or 1/21.

The circuitry of the ELX3314 can operate sensors with 2-wire technology.

Linearization is possible over the entire freely selectable temperature range.

The error LEDs indicate a broken wire. Compensation for the cold junction is

achieved through internal temperature measurement. Millivolt measurement is also

possible with ELX3314.

The ED4072 analog output terminal is a universal 10 V/20 mA output module

in the 16-bit class for simple control tasks. Standard signals in the -10/0...+10

V or -20/0/+4...+20 mA ranges can be generated per channel. CoE can be

used to set each channel to U or I mode in TwinCAT or from the controller.

The voltage and current outputs are single-ended, meaning that they each

refer to the 0 V DC power contact. All outputs are digitized with a 16-bit

resolution and transmitted to the higher-level automation system under

electrical isolation. With a technical output range of ±107% of the nominal

range, unconventional setpoints, such as for error reporting purposes, can

also be output.

The current outputs can have high load resistances and report overload,

wire break, or – in the case of voltage outputs – a short circuit.

The ED4072 terminal has 24 V/0 V DC contacts for the supply of the 

actuators.
