ABB CI874 COMMUNICATIONS - AC 800M COMMUNICATION INTERFACES

The CI874 is an AC 800M communication interface that connects to external Ethernet devices using the OPC UA protocol. The TP867 Baseplate has one RJ45 Ethernet connector that supports 100Mbps. The CI874 expansion unit contains the CEX-Bus logic, a communication unit, and a DC/DC converter that supplies the required voltage from +24 V supply through the CEX-Bus. CI874 is represented as a hardware module within the Control Builder hardware tree.

The CI874 module will only work with System 800xA 6.1.1 and subsequent versions. Control functions

The control functions are used to indicate the status of switching devices, 

i.e. circuit breakers and disconnectors, and to execute open and close commands for controllable switching devices of the switchgear. 

Furthermore, there are supplementary functions for control logic purposes, e.g. on/off switches, 

MIMIC alarm LED control, numerical data for MIMIC and logic controlled control position selector. 

The control functions configured with the Relay Configuration Tool can be associated with object status indicators that 

are part of the MIMIC configuration picture displayed on the HMI. 

The object status indicators are used to indicate the status of switching devices via the MIMIC picture and to control them locally.
