Advantest ADCMT 7480T 8.5 DIGIT MULTIMETER

The R6552 Series is a digital multimeter designed for system or bench use with the maximum display of 319999. 

featuring GPIB and RS232 interfaces with full remote control capability. 

It is capable of measuring DC voltage/current, AC voltage/ current, 4- or 2-wire resistance, 

low/power 4- or 2-wire resistance, (AC+DC) AC voltage/current, frequencies, and diodes. 

ADVANTEST's unique multi-slope integral A/D conversion method ensures high speed and high precision measurements. 

The AC voltage/current measurement uses the true-RMS (true effective value) method while 

the (AC+DC) AC voltage/current measurement allows measurement of a true effective 

value of the distortion wave including the DC components.

The T6672 is a lower cost, highly compatible production test companion tothe T6682. 

a high-performance characterization system. Designed withAdvantest's architecture,

both systems are aimed at ASICor system-on-a-chip (SOC) devices that require test of embedded memory, 

largeSCAN patterns, or mixed-signal features.

The T6672 can be used to provide wafer probe of Rambus, Fire Wire,SONET, 

or MPU devices that will be final tested at-speed on a T6682. 

Witha clock frequency to 1.6 GHz and data rates to 1 Gbit/s, 

the T6682 complementsthis performance at the high end by providing very high speed performance 

fortesting these devices that use new interface technology, at-speed.

In addition to the FAST/MED/SLOW sampling modes of the conventional models, the R6552 has BURST and LONG-IT modes as well.

The advantage of the old 6581 is that there is a reverse enginered schematics available, if needed for a repair. 

As a downside the displays are often dim and a replacement is a bit tricky.

A know weak point for the 6581 is the rather large current spike from AZ switching - this can be an issue with some signal sources. 

Another point is that ACAL may not be fully accurate for the highest resistor ranges. 

So the specs there may be a bit overly optimistic. 

Quite a few of the old meters also have a relay power saving mode not working right 

that can cause some thermal EMF error that can effect the lower voltage ranges - this is fixable at least.

The 6581T tends to have a rather poor factory calibration that causes quite some INL error 

- so while the ADC is essentially the same as with the full version, the linearity is not that great for the T version.

There may be ways to correct this, but it is extra effort and may need extra instruments (e.g. cal source).
