Mark VI is an associate of GE's Speedtronic product line, which had been around for decades. 

The Speedtronic series went through several iterations, beginning with the Mark I in 1969. The Mark VI came with a PC-based operator interface that came pre-loaded with brand-specific software like CIMPLICITY graphics and the GE Control System Toolbox. The Control Module, which comes in either a 13- or 21-slot standard VME card rack, is at the heart of the Mark VI Turbine Control System. The Control Module receives inputs via termination boards with barrier or box-type terminal blocks and passive signal conditioning. 

Each I/O card has a TMS320C32 DSP processor that digitally filters data before converting it to IEEE-854 32-bit floating-point format.
