Typical applications of Triconex system a) ESD system Triconex provides continuous protection for refineries, 

petrochemical plants, and other industrial processes that require a high level of safety. 

For example, in reactor and compressor units, plant-level trip signals—pressure, product feed, expander pressure balance,

and temperature—are monitored and tripped when preset conditions occur. 

Traditional tripping systems are implemented using mechanical or electronic relays, but this often results in dangerous nuisance tripping. 

Triconex enhances system safety by providing automatic detection and confirmation of field sensor integrity, 

full trip and control functions, direct connection to management data highways, and continuous monitoring of safety loop functions. b) 

Boiler flame Analyzing Most of the smelting plant history, the process steam boiler acts as a loop component. 

In order to protect the boiler, the safety interlock system for starting and stopping of Zhengbin and the 

flame safety system of Yifu are integrated with the Triconex system. 

In traditional applications, this ≤ functional electrical monolithic components are provided. 

But in the fault-tolerant fail-safe Triconex controller, boiler operators can use cycle resources more 

efficiently while maintaining boiler safety at (or above) an electromechanical protection system level. c) 

The steam turbine control system requires a high degree of integrity and security for the control and protection of the gas/steam turbine. 

The continuous operation of Triconex’s fault-tolerant controller can provide the highest working performance 

while guaranteeing the highest safety of the steam turbine. 

Speed control, like starting and stopping, is performed by a separate system. 

The use of hot standby modules reduces unexpected loss. 

If a module fails, the system automatically replaces it with a spare module without interrupting the 

operation process. d) Offshore Fire/Gas Protection The fire/gas protection of offshore platforms requires continuous reliability and stability. 

Triconex provides this functionality through the online replacement of faulty modules. 

Module errors, field wiring or sensor failures are automatically managed by built-in diagnostics. 

The analog fire/gas sensor is directly connected to

Triconex system, eliminates the need for tripping amps. 

The operator interface monitors the fire/gas system and diagnoses Triconex controllers and sensors. Traditional fire/gas instruments can be replaced with an integrated control system, saving valuable floor space while maintaining high safety and reliability.

Triconex Communication Interface Module (TCMI)

The TCMI is a standard Honeywell product that provides interface between the Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE)

based Enhanced Universal Control Network (EUCN) and Triconex TRICON Safety Manager System.

The TCMI is a redundant device capable of:

• Bi-directional communication with Triconex systems 10.3 and above.

• Execution of data mapping of TRICON memory tables to EUCN format

• Data conversion to EUCN data types (Tag. Parameter), engineering unit and EUCN communication functions.

• Execution of read and write function to TRICON memory tables

• Definition of signal alarm conditioning and messaging on the EUCN for alarm handling, annunciation

and diagnostic status reporting

• Direct peer-to-peer communication with other EUCN connected devices as Enhanced HighPerformance Process Managers (EHPM), 

Enhanced Logic Managers (ELMM) or Honeywell Safety Manager (SM)

• Communication with operators, engineers, and maintenance personnel at the Universal Stations, EST & ESVT via ENIM.

• Support of higher level strategies through communication with Application Modules and host

computers on the Local Control Network via ENIM.

• Database restoration of TCMI Module from the History Module via ENIM.

• Available in two hardware mounting form, front and rear cabinet access mounting (MC-ZTCMIR or

MC-TCMIR1), Front only cabinet access mounting (MC-ZTCMI2 or MC-TCMIR2)
