Protection functions

The IED offers directional and non-directional overcurrent and thermal overload protection as

well as directional and non-directional earth-fault protection. 

Some standard configurations allow as an option admittance-based, harmonics-based or wattmetric-based earth-fault protection to be

used in addition to directional earth-fault protection. 

Further, the IED features sensitive earth-fault protection, phase discontinuity protection, transient/intermittent earth-fault protection, 

overvoltage and undervoltage protection, residual overvoltage protection, positive-sequence undervoltage 

and negativesequence overvoltage protection. 

The outstanding I/O capability in REC670 enables control of several bays with complete measurement with only one IED. 

For instance, one REC670 IED is capable of handling control of all apparatuses 

in one entire diameter in 1 ½ breaker arrangement including breaker failure protection for all breakers.

APPLICATION

The REF543KM127AAAA is a feeder terminal produced by ABB that is used in a wide range of applications. 

Designed for protection, control, measurement and monitoring of medium voltage networks,

the device can be used with different types of switchgear, such as single bus, 

dual bus and dual machine systems, and supports a variety of network types, including isolated neutral networks,

resonant ground networks and partially grounded networks.

It is especially suitable for the protection and control of medium-sized three-phase asynchronous motors, 

as well as the protection and control of shunt capacitor banks for reactive power compensation. 

The REF543KM127AAAA unit integrates a variety of automation and sequential logic control functions that are critical to substation automation. 

In addition, it also has a variety of communication interfaces, support such as SPA bus, LON bus, 

IEC 60870-5-103 and other communication standards, enabling fast and interference-free data communication.

In industrial automation control systems, the REF543KM127AAAA comprehensive protection relay also plays an important role,

which is not only used to connect and control cables and wires, but also has a number of notable features, 

such as compact design, high reliability, and the ability to withstand voltages up to 1000V.
