The routing of the wire connected to the bottom of the dashed oval symbol defines the termination of the shield drain wire. The shield for the portion of the shielded wire between the jack connectors and the IO module is terminated at the shield bus bar in the IO module in the example on sheet 27B. At a junction box, shields for wiring routed through jack connectors are jumpered together. This collection of shields is then connected to one of the jack pins, usually the last jack pin. Sheet 44E of the elementary shows the connection of the shield drain wire from the last pin in the cable.
