The EK1100-0008 EtherCAT Coupler is the link between the EtherCAT protocol at fieldbus level and the EtherCAT Terminals. The
coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation. A station consists of a coupler
and any number of EtherCAT Terminals that are automatically detected and individually displayed in the process image.

The EK1100-0008 has two M8 sockets. The upper Ethernet interface is used to connect the coupler to the network; the lower socket
serves for the optional connection of further EtherCAT devices in the same segment. The M8 socket is compatible with the EtherCAT
Box modules and therefore enables uniform cabling in the IP20 and IP67 range. In addition, an EtherCAT junction or an EtherCAT
extension can be used for the extension or for setting up a line or star topology.
The system and field supply, each 24 V DC, is provided directly at the coupler. The attached EtherCAT Terminals are supplied with
the current required for communication from the supplied system voltage. The coupler can supply a maximum of 5 V and 2 A. If
higher current is required, power feed terminals such as the EL9410 have to be integrated. The field supply is forwarded to the
individual I/O components via the power contacts with up to 10 A.
The C6027 ultra-compact Industrial PC is designed as a fanless device and offers the high Intel® Core™ i computing power
despite its small dimensions of 82 x 127 x 69 mm. The Intel® Core™ i U processors with up to four processor cores form the
basis for this, because despite their Core™ i properties their power consumption is much lower compared with the other
processors from the series.
With the C6027. Beckhoff is expanding its range of ultra-compact Industrial PCs to include a modular version with scalable
interface expansions and a 1-second UPS to secure persistent data.
Due to its extremely compact size, the versatile and flexible mounting options and the impressive computing power, it fits
into virtually any control cabinet and machine concept.
Apart from use for a wide range of automation tasks, the C6027 is mainly suitable for use as an IoT gateway, or as an edge
device. The basis for this is the full integration and compatibility of TwinCAT and EtherCAT.
