RBTXpert from igus: Remote integration and quoting for low-cost automation

Want to automate at a low cost and get a quick return on investment, but don't know how? This problem doesn't just plague newbies who have not long been involved in automation. And RBTXpert wants to provide users with immediate support to help them successfully implement their planned projects. This new service platform helps users to select the right low-cost components, check the feasibility of the project and provide support during commissioning.

RBTX.com aims to provide all possible low-cost robot combination solutions via an online platform and guarantees that the solutions are concise and easy to build. Users can assemble their own cost-effective robotics solutions with just a few clicks on the webpage. But not all users are very clear about their automation project needs from the start. ‘For customers, they first have to look at their application. They have to be clear about which tasks in the application need to be automated.’ Jens Kl?rner, head of RBTX products, says, ‘In response, igus has launched the new RBTXpert service to help customers select the right components and provide the most affordable solution that ensures safe operation.’

Easy automation with RBTXpert

The first thing users need to be clear about before every enquiry is: ‘What kind of automation do I want?’  To do this, users can book a free meeting on RBTXpert and then describe their project in a video call. The expert will then take care of realising the project. During the teleconference, the RBTX platform evaluates the advantages of various robot movements and accessories, testing the feasibility of the project simultaneously during the real-time session. Along with this, the RBTXpert provides a binding fixed-price offer. For this purpose, igus has set up a 400 square metre ‘customer test area’ to test and optimise planned automation projects. Users can participate in the tests via video. Of course, it is even better if the moving parts can be sent to igus for further testing. At the end of the free consultation, the user receives the results of the feasibility tests of the automation project as well as a fixed-price quotation. If the user is satisfied with the proposal, the component delivery phase follows. RBTXpert still supports the user during the commissioning of the project. ‘The hardware cost for our representative project is €8.000 and the integration work takes about 20 hours.’ Alexander Mühlens, head of the igus low-cost automation business unit, explains, ‘This service is available for applications with a hardware cost of between 3.000 and 25.000 euros and an integration time of less than 100 hours. We will also further expand our development programme for more complex projects that cannot yet be implemented with low-cost automation and RBTXpert.’ Alexander Mühlens adds.

RBTXpert online shop offers a wide range of low-cost robots to choose from

A wide range of low-cost automation products are available on RBTX.com for users to choose from. For example, articulated arm robots from igus, delta robots and Cartesian robots as well as robotic products from other suppliers form the basic electromechanical framework. Users can then add individual components from different manufacturers to complement the structure, such as fixtures, cameras and control systems. We are constantly expanding our product range, with new innovations from igus such as the ReBeL wear-resistant harmonic gears that can be fully integrated with motors, absolute encoders, force regulation and controllers. The drylin Scara robot, a modular robot with four degrees of freedom, will also be available from this summer. ‘This shows that RBTX is going from strength to strength, while at the same time it is becoming more and more attractive to customers as well as low-cost automation suppliers and brings both parties together.’ Jens Klrner emphasises: ‘Customers can rest assured that all the components they order here work together without any problems. We have also extended the RBTXpert product range to ensure that customers make the choice that is best for them. This makes it easy for many to automate at low cost and get a quick return on investment.’
