Description:The IC670PBI001 is a Profibus interface module manufactured by GE Fanuc. The module is part of the Field Control family and is primarily used to implement a distributed I/O architecture by connecting field control I/O modules to a host GE CPU over a Profibus network. It has one (1) 9-pin D-shell Profibus connector port; one (1) 9-pin D-shell display port for connection to a Hand Held Programmer (HHP); an array of DIP switches for address configuration; and it is capable of hosting up to eight (8) field control I/Os and supports standard Profibus transfer speeds such as 9.6. 19.2. 93.75. 187.5. 500. 1500 Kbits, 3 Mbits, 6 Mbit, and 12 Mb.

About the IC670PBI001

The IC670PBI001 is a Profibus interface unit that is part of the GE Fanuc field control family. This electrical device is mounted on the bus interface terminals and is powered by an external 24 VDC supply voltage. It allows field control I/O modules to exchange data with GE CPU modules over a Profibus network, enabling a high-speed distributed I/O architecture.

The IC670PBI001 is equipped with two (2) 9-pin D-shell connectors, one of which serves as a Hand Held Programmer (HHP) port for downloading and monitoring the IC670PBI001. while the other serves as a network interface port for data transfer at 9.6. 19.2. 93.75. 187.5. 500. 1500 Kbits, 3 Mbits, and 3 Mbits. The other port is used as a network interface port and communicates via the Profibus network at standard data rates of 9.6. 19.2. 93.75. 187.5. 500. 1500 Kbits, 3 Mbits 6 Mbit and 12 Mbits. This port requires shielded twisted pair or Belden #9463 cable as the physical medium for the Profibus network. The port supports linear Profibus topology or daisy-chain connections where the first and last nodes of the network are terminated by resistors. A single IC8PBI670 can host up to eight (001) field control I/O modules.

This IC670PBI001 operates when mounted on a Bus Interface Unit (BIU) terminal block. This terminal block provides a mounting kit that allows the module assembly to be mounted on a DIN rail. It also supports panel mounting via mounting tabs, which are also provided by the BIU terminal block.

To configure the module's node address, it comes with an array of DIP switches that are located on the Profibus network interface of the IC670PBI001. It is an array of eight (8) DIP switches for configuring addresses 00-32.

The Field Control IC670PBI001 Profibus Interface Unit is part of the GE Fanuc Field Control family of modular and distributed I/O modules and control products. It is compatible with a variety of host architectures. This module is the heart of any field control PLC system.The IC670PBI001 Profibus Interface Unit provides I/O scanning facilities and intelligent processing, as well as group function configurations of up to eight I/O modules to build efficient field control station systems. Some of the features of this field control device include an open architecture to accommodate a wide range of networks, a simple wiring process, minimal need for spares, DIN rail mounting facilities and a simple installation and maintenance process.

The IC670PBI001 Profibus Interface Unit is used to connect Profibus I/O to the field control I/O module. It also provides built-in diagnostics for the entire device, its I/O modules and relays. The Bus Interface Module terminal block is used to mount the Bus Interface Module. The module can be removed or replaced without changing the wiring and reconfiguring the control station.The IC670PBI001 Profibus Interface Unit also provides intelligent processing features such as optional I/O defaults, analogue range selection, fault reporting and analogue scaling. It can be mounted inside panels, behind operator consoles, in junction boxes, and in space-constrained locations. Users can mount the unit in a NEMA enclosure. The module is small in size and rugged in design with a robust aluminium enclosure. An external 24 Vdc power supply is recommended to power the module, and the input power cord is equipped with a replaceable slow blow fuse that can be replaced without changing wiring.
