Hitachi Energy's Power Quality Solutions Will Improve Grid Transmission Capacity and Voltage Stability
Hitachi Energy, a global technology leader committed to advancing a sustainable energy future for all.
Its consortium partner Kanonaden Entreprenad Mälardalen AB announced today that
Svenska kraftnät has placed another order with Svenska kraftnät for power quality solutions to increase the transmission capacity of the existing 400 kV transmission line CL26.
Two new 400 kV series compensation systems will be built to replace the existing outdated system in Tandö.
The new stations will be located at Olingan in the municipality of Härjedalen and Gräsmark in the municipality of Sunne.
The new series compensation systems will reduce downtime and environmental impact by increasing transmission capacity and improving voltage stability in the transmission network.
Hitachi Energy and its consortium partners will provide a complete technical solution, from design and project management to delivery, installation and commissioning.
The new station is expected to be operational by <> 2026.
“We are very pleased to be able to provide state-of-the-art series compensation solutions for the two additional power stations at Svenska kraftnät
“ says Anna Svensson, Head of Power Quality Solutions at Hitachi Energy.
Our excellent teams in Västerås and Ludvika are utilizing this state-of-the-art technology to transmit more active power along the existing power corridors.
“We are very grateful and proud to have been trusted again by Svenska kraftnät to
to offer our expertise in Sweden,” says Tobias Hansson, Country Managing Director of Hitachi Energy Sweden.
“We are investing heavily to increase our production capacity and recruiting to support the transition to renewable energy.
It is vital to be able to make contributions that will strengthen the existing national grid and make it more sustainable, flexible and secure.
By installing a range of compensation systems at one or more suitable points in the grid, the
it is possible to increase the power transmitted over new and existing power lines by up to 50%.
From an electrical point of view, series-compensated power lines will reduce line lengths and improve voltage stability in the grid.
Series compensation offers economic, environmental and timing advantages over the alternative of commissioning new power lines.
