HDFC ACL Container Inspection: Almost Everything Covered

Comprehensively inspecting empty ACL bottles without blind spots is a real challenge, and HEUFT has faced it head on from the start.

The modular systems of the HEUFT InLine II series not only check empty bottles or cans for the presence of coloured labels (ACLs). Like real ASEBIs, they can now also perform sidewall inspections that cover all areas between such brand labels without gaps.

The new specialist optical system accurately inspects each ACL to identify cracks, tears, scuffs, inclusions, contamination, printing errors, unbranded labels, logos and colours in that area.

From ACL Inspection to ACL Quality Inspection

This ACL Quality Inspection is a new chapter in the ongoing innovation process of comprehensive and reliable inspection of empty bottles. Missing detection alone has been going on for a long time. The question of a second step is to make container sidewall detection more comprehensive by using colour and shape information from completely or partially hidden ACLs during image processing with AI-based filters, thus expanding the detectable area: HEUFT reflexx A.I. makes this possible!

However, verifying the absence of ACLs and checking all safety risks and quality defects around them is still not enough for us. This is why we have further developed our inspection technology, so that the HEUFTInLine IIIS empty bottle inspection device, now also detects the ACL area itself comprehensively and with high precision. A total of four HEUFTreflexx A.I. cameras, including an incident light illumination camera specially developed for further development, have been integrated into the two cabinets used to carry out the sidewall inspection.

Complete inspection of all surfaces, including the ACL area

It is now possible to generate four views of bottles or cans that have been transported undirected through the linear inspection system. These views are then collected and centralised in real time by our intelligent HEUFT reflexx A.I. image processing system, so that the front and back of each individual container as well as each ACL can always be viewed and inspected in their entirety.To achieve this, there is no need for human beings to block the gaps between each bottle, which can be transported closely together in the system. As a result, full-surface inspection without blind spots is ultimately and sustainably ensured.
