The new generation of motors has to be small, compact and run fast. As a result, more and more drive manufacturers are using hybrid technology to save space.
For this reason, igus has also developed a new hybrid cable for SEW motors with MOVILINK DDI interface.
This highly flexible cable for drag chains can be used in many applications such as the material handling industry.

Hybrid cables for drive technology are characterised by the possibility of simultaneous power and data transmission in one cable.
In this way, the number of cables can be halved. For the new SEW motors with MOVILINK DDI interface, the
The drive manufacturer uses coaxial components for the data transmission of motor information.
For the safe transmission of kinetic energy and data to compact motors in motion, igus has developed a new hybrid cable.
‘The challenge with cables with coaxial elements is that they are extremely prone to failure under highly dynamic conditions.
Our task was therefore to develop highly flexible cables with a long service life that operate reliably even when in motion.
‘ says Andreas Muckes, Head of Product for chainflex cables at igus in Germany.
So igus drew on its more than 20 years of expertise in the use of coaxial cables in highly dynamic applications to launch this new hybrid cable, the CF280.UL.H207.D.
It combines four power cores with one coaxial core and two control cores.
By combining two cables into one, users can save up to 40 per cent of space in the drag chain, while the system requires less drive power, which means less energy consumption.
The new hybrid cables with a PUR jacket can be used in applications with a minimum bending radius factor of 15xd, e.g. in the machine tool, material handling and automotive industries.
28 hybrid cables
igus now offers 28 different types of hybrid cables that comply with drive standards such as Siemens, Peifu, SEW and Bosch Rexroth.
This is the largest selection of hybrid cables for drag chains available from stock on the market today.
The expansion of the CF280 series means that igus is constantly keeping pace with the advancement of hybrid technology.
As a cable specialist, igus has also extended its CF280 cable series with a PVC sheathed version under the name CF220.
This reduces the additional cost of hybrid cables. chainflex highly flexible cables can be sold by the metre or with pre-assembled connectors.
As with all igus cables, the new SEW hybrid cables come with a 36-month warranty commitment.
