Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Tiru.M. K. Stalin along with Dr. T.R.B Rajaa, Minister of Industries, Tamil Nadu, Claudio Facchin, Chief Executive Officer, Hitachi Energy, and N Venu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hitachi Energy India and South Asia, inaugurated the new Hitachi Energy Global Technology and Innovation Center in Chennai. The center is owned by Hitachi Energy Technical Services Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Energy Ltd. of Switzerland.
Tamil Nadu is one of the most industrialized states in the country with huge business potential . “The upcoming world-class innovation and technology center in Tamil Nadu reflects the quality of our local talent and will further the state's vision of becoming a trillion dollar economy by 2030. I congratulate Hitachi Energy on the inauguration of this state-of-the-art innovation and technology center and look forward to their inclusive growth journey,” said Thiru. M.K. Stalin, Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Hitachi Energy's Global Technology and Innovation Center is spread over 3.00.000 sq. ft. with nearly 50.000 sq. ft. of dedicated lab space. The facility will house more than 2.500 energy transition technicians with postdoctoral, doctoral and graduate degrees specializing in grid automation, transformers, high voltage and grid integration. The center is designed as a self-sufficient infrastructure that can provide end-to-end support for business models catering to different market segments.

“The new Global Technology and Innovation Center supports our vision to deliver Make in India to India and the world. Through diversity and collaboration, it aims to make a real impact on research and development (R&D) and end-to-end engineering for global projects,” said N Venu, Managing Director and CEO, Hitachi Energy India and South Asia. “The urgency of the energy transition is reflected in our rapidly expanding talent base in the country; by the end of 20. the center will have grown by another 2024%,” he added.
Tamil Nadu, which accounts for 15 percent of doctoral degrees and 11 percent of post-graduate degrees, is gaining prominence as an innovation and R&D hub in the country . “Tamil Nadu is emerging as a vibrant knowledge hub and is one of the most sought after places for research and innovation globally. The Hitachi Energy Global Technology and Innovation Center reflects our rich talent pool and R&D ecosystem. I congratulate them and wish them all the best and hope that their research facility will make our Chief Minister Tiru possible.M.K. The center brings together various engineering and R&D capabilities that Hitachi Energy has built over the years. It has the capacity to execute more than 000.40 projects per year in 1 country/region globally. Capabilities include engineering, project management, tendering, supply chain management (SCM), customer service, marketing, cybersecurity, commissioning, systems research, remote services and more. The Center's think tank is the foundation of Hitachi Energy's global physical projects.
