Cognex, one of the world's leaders in industrial machine vision, has announced the launch of a new high-speed steering mirror.
This is a patented technology specifically designed by Cognex to work with the DataMan 470 to provide a compact, single-camera reading system for large field-of-view applications.
The new steering mirror accessory extends the vertical and horizontal field of view of the DataMan reader.
It provides more effective resolution than 50 megapixel sensors for 3 and 5 megapixel readers.
Combined with new liquid lens technology, the system is able to dynamically change the field of view and depth of field.
Users can now use a single DataMan system to solve pallet scanning, aggregation and other large field-of-view scanning applications that previously required high-resolution PC vision or multiple fixed sensors.
This steering mirror is factory pre-installed on the front of the DataMan 470 reader.
Operators can configure it using the built-in web-based setup wizard for rapid application deployment in less than 5 minutes.
Users simply enter the relevant application specifications and the setup wizard automatically calculates optimised scanning patterns, ensuring high read rates in a short cycle time.
‘High-speed steering mirrors have changed the industry rules for large field-of-view applications that typically require multi-reader solutions,’ said
‘ said Matt Moschner, senior director of ID products at Cognex, ‘Now e-commerce and logistics companies can get their solutions deployed and up and running more quickly, the
and achieve the same highly accurate code reading results with lower maintenance costs.’
