Komar Introduces New Innovative Meta-Language Software Program MI.RA/DEXTER Based on AI Algorithms

Komar introduces MI.RA/Dexter, a powerful software program based on AI (Artificial Intelligence) algorithms that make human-robot interaction easier while optimising industrial operations. MI.RA/Dexter is a meta-language that represents Komar's commitment to easy automation. It makes it easier and more convenient for companies of all sizes to use robotics by translating human language syntax into robot syntax. This enables operators to easily programme robotic systems using simple and intuitive controls, such as viewing an object, touching a specific point in space, listening to voice recognition operations, and reproducing and performing complex operations. The simplified programming interface allows the operator to quickly adapt, adjust and correct the robot's movements in real time, thus optimising beat-to-beat efficiency.

Since no specific competence in IT or robotics is required to use MI.RA/Dexter, it allows customers to reduce or eliminate the cost of dedicated robot programming. It also helps simplify the creation of complex routines required to interact with robotic arms and program any industrial technology in an intelligent and straightforward manner.

Quality control operators recently used MI.RA/Dexter to programme a complex robotic cell for the new Fiat 500 pure electric car. The customer commissioned Komar to automate the test and control processes for the vehicle's infotainment system. These processes are often time-consuming, repetitive and manual, and therefore costly and error-prone. Komar's solution combined a safe version of the NJ-220 robot with a wrist-mounted Racer-5 COBOT to perform automated test activities within the vehicle, increasing the efficiency, traceability and repeatability of the procedures. This collaborative system also helps ensure full compliance with the test process by objectively assisting the operator with each task assigned. To this end, the system integrates equipment with ‘near-human’ sensitivity, such as vision systems to validate infotainment applications, microphones and speakers to recognise voice commands, and grippers to perform fine-touch operations. Finally, the inherent safety features of 6-axis collaborative robots eliminate the need for protective fencing, reducing overall footprint and safety costs.

The MI.RA/Dexter programming language allows operators to autonomously manage complex robotic systems. This includes the safe management of operations where the collaborative robot must be in close contact with the operator, as well as the automation and subsequent optimisation of required test tasks. It belongs to the Komar MI.RA (Machine Inspection Recognition Prototype) family, which also includes other digital tools and advanced technology vision systems designed for the Smart Factory.
