Weidmüller makes wiring harness assembly easy and efficient

With semi-automated workflows, time-consuming tasks such as wire harness processing can be carried out more efficiently. Weidmüller's new CUTFIX PRO supports semi-automatic harness forming as a purely electric machine that cuts a wide range of wires. Robust and compact, the machine measures the size of a sheet of DIN A4 paper and boasts fast processing as well as flexible application options. It cuts wires to fixed lengths with a cross-sectional area of 0.08 mm2 to 10 mm2 (AWG 40-8) or up to 8 mm outer diameter.

The compact design of the CUTFIX PRO supports the simple and precise cutting to length of soft conductors with a cross-sectional area of 0.08 to 10.00 mm2 (AWG 40-8).

In cabinet assembly, wire harness assembly is a labour- and cost-intensive task. The new automatic wire cutter is available as a single CUTFIX PRO or can be upgraded to a CUTFIX PRO FEEDER with an optional wire switching device, which automates the ‘cut-to-length’ work step by eliminating the manual wire change step. This reduces processing times, leading to cost reductions and a significant increase in overall efficiency. Both types of machine are fast, simple and flexible for all users, whether in the workshop or on site. Simply connected to the power supply, these purely electric machines are ready for immediate use. Cutting work can be started easily in different ways. By means of the supplied software CUTFIX PRO MANAGER, or by the quick and simple 5-inch colour touch display that comes with the machine, it is possible to work.

The menus are designed with a simple and intuitive navigation that is quick and intuitive and allows you to start cutting work straight away with just a few clicks. This makes it easy to create complete projects on the machine. Whether it is a single job, a complete project or certain information, it can be viewed on the machine's large colour display. The wire to be cut is simply inserted into the feed end of the CUTFIX PRO. No matter how many times it is repeated, the transfer mechanism safely grips the wire, thus ensuring a precise cut. In addition, the contact pressure can be adjusted if necessary. The horizontal working surface of the machine supports a view of the working area at the right angle and is thus highly ergonomic, especially when the user is standing up.The CUTFIX PRO has a robust design and its interior is made entirely of robust metal components. This machine is characterised by low wear and tear and a long service life. The service menu includes a service counter to indicate the required service intervals.

As an option, the machine can be upgraded to the CUTFIX PRO FEEDER by using a wire switching device, which can then be used to cut up to 12 wires with different cross-sectional areas - 11 of them in the range of 0.5-2.5 mm2. The remaining wire has a range of 4.0 -The remaining wire ranges from 4.0 to 10.0 mm2. The wire switching device supports the sequential processing of complex projects without the need to change wires. First, the different conductors must be defined in the machine software, and then the conductor/cross-sectional area is changed automatically. After each cross-sectional area change, an automatic zero cut is initiated to ensure high length accuracy. The different wires can be processed one by one according to the predefined settings in the project list. When using CUTFIX PRO, individual orders or entire projects can be processed automatically, thus saving a great deal of time. Especially in combination with a re-feeding unit, the cutter offers advantages that were once only available with a fully automatic machine.

As an option, the machine can be upgraded to a CUTFIX PRO FEEDER in combination with a wire switching device, which can then be used to cut up to twelve wires with different cross-sectional areas.

Both machines are equipped with different interfaces (USB, serial, Ethernet) as standard. This supports the transfer of project data to the machine in a variety of ways. In addition, both versions can be easily integrated into the ‘Weidmüller Wire Processing Centre’ (WPC). Cutting tasks can be managed, recorded and transferred with the aid of a PC using the software included in the scope of delivery.
