S800 Input/Output Modules and Terminal Units

The S800 I/O is distributed as a modular I/O and communicates with numerous controllers via Advant Fieldbus 100 (AF100), PROFIBUS-DP, or directly.

The S800 I/O is easy to install I/O modules and process wiring.

It is highly modular and flexible, so I/O modules can be combined to suit a wide range of applications.

The S800 I/O can be installed in a variety of configurations to meet most requirements.

Including most types of signalling, HART and intrinsically safe interfaces, the S800 I/O module is combined with a fieldbus communication interface (FCI) to form an I/O station.

The S800 I/O can be used in both stand-alone and redundant applications.

In general, all S800 units are G3-compliant. G3-compliant modules can withstand

All modules are labelled with a bar code showing the serial number, product ID and product revision number.

Separate barcode strips are included on the modules if required.

The S800 I/O can be divided into the following categories:

- Module Terminal Units (MTUs)

- I/O Modules - S800 I/O modules and S800L I/O modules.

The S800 I/O modules can be used with Modular Terminal Units.

The S800L I/O Module can be mounted directly to a standard DIN rail.

The modules also contain terminals for connection.

Modular Terminal Units and Terminal Units

Module Terminal Units (MTUs) are passive base units that house I/O modules.

The Module Terminal Unit (MTU) allocates the module bus to the I/O module and the next MTU.

Two mechanical keys are used to configure MTUs for different types of I/O modules. this is only a mechanical configuration and does not affect the MTUs or the functionality of the I/O modules.

Each key has six positions and there are 36 different configurations. The configuration can be changed with a screwdriver.

The MTU can be mounted on a standard DIN rail. It has a mechanical latch

that locks the MTU to the DIN rail. The latch can be released with a screwdriver.

The MTU has a mechanical locking mechanism that locks the module in its position.
