Rockwell Automation Intelligent Drives PowerFlex 755TS to Target More Applications

Rockwell Automation, a global leader in industrial automation, information technology and digital transformation, recently announced it is expanding its PowerFlex AC drive portfolio to support a broader range of motor control application scenarios. The expanded PowerFlex 755TS drives, featuring TotalFORCE technology, will provide customers with a more flexible, high-performance and smarter experience.

The new PowerFlex 755TS drive is Rockwell Automation's first six-pulse rectifier drive with TotalFORCE technology to help customers get the most out of their equipment. Previously, TotalFORCE technology was only available in the PowerFlex 755T drive with active front-end technology. Today, the technology can be used in a wider range of scenarios, including not only traditional fans, pumps and conveyor belts, but also advanced motor control processes that require high performance, replacing dedicated inverter solutions.

The new product is suitable for virtually all motor control applications and delivers a simple and consistent user experience in three key areas:

● Flexible, high-performance control: The PowerFlex 755TS inverter has the power range, voltage rating and performance to meet the needs of a wide range of motor control applications. As a result, users can use the same inverter for multiple applications, which simplifies support and reduces labour burdens.

● Operation Intelligence: A built-in prediction model calculates the predicted remaining life of inverter components using a continuous operation monitoring function. Knowing this information, users can replace components as needed, eliminating the need for regular replacement, thus reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

● Easy commissioning and optimisation: With the adaptive control function, the inverter monitors the machine's characteristics over time and automatically compensates for such changes. This helps the user to commission the frequency converter quickly and maintain it throughout its life cycle without the need for an experienced commissioning specialist. It also helps reduce mechanical wear and tear and extends uptime.

The PowerFlex 755TS inverter is also available in an enhanced protection version (XT version) to help extend uptime and operating life in corrosive gas environments. Not only has it been subjected to a 30-day exposure test to mixed stream gases in accordance with industry-leading ASTM B845 Method K, but it has also been subjected to specialised testing that exceeds the requirements of existing industry standards.

To enhance cybersecurity in industrial applications, the PowerFlex 755TS inverter also supports CIP Security, a feature that enhances control system security by ensuring the reliability, integrity and confidentiality of data to protect against malicious remote access and manipulation by attackers.

The 755TS inverter is designed to be easily upgraded from other PowerFlex 750 inverters. 755TS inverters are mechanically and electrically identical to other PowerFlex 755 inverters, plug-and-play, with the same physical dimensions, mounting holes, and wiring locations. It also follows the same slot architecture, allowing users to use the I/O and safety cards from existing PowerFlex 750 drives. In addition, the new product offers intelligent integration with the Logix control platform, helping to simplify inverter configuration and programming.

The PowerFlex 755TS inverter will be available in spring 2022.
