Baumer's Edge Detection Product Family Gets Stronger

Edge detection sensor is a kind of industrial automation equipment with wide range of usage and reliable detection, which has important use in many professions such as lithium battery production, semiconductor, food and beverage, packaging and printing. Recently, Baumer has added new reinforcements to its edge detection sensor product family, launching OE60. OE40. OXS series and other high-performance innovative products.

OE40 edge detection sensor

Compact housing with reflector bracket and Plug & Play technology for measurement on the contra-reflective principle with an accuracy of up to 5 µm and a measuring range of up to 24 mm, detection of bright edges, Plug & Play with reflector bracket, no calibration required. Various auxiliary data can be supplied, such as contamination level targets, analog and IO-Link interfaces.

OE60 edge detection sensor

The OE60 edge detection sensor is based on the transmitter-receiver principle, with a maximum distance of 300 mm between the sensing heads and a repeatability of 1 µm at intervals of up to 100 mm. It can be integrated in a single unit, is compact and easy to integrate, and can provide a wide range of auxiliary data, such as contamination targets, and supports Modbus RTU and EtherCat interfaces. This avoids the need for additional equipment and reduces the total cost of ownership.

OXS edge detection sensors

Compact, easy to integrate and robust, the OXS edge detection sensors are based on the diffuse reflection principle and can measure multiple edges and step differences with resolutions of up to 30 µm in the X-axis and 5 µm in the Z-axis, which can be freely parameterized via an intuitive web interface.

Ideal for a wide range of applications in the battery and packaging industry.

The new OE60 and OE40 edge detection sensors as well as the OXS edge detection sensors provide reliable edge measurement with varying accuracy and in a wide range of installation environments.

The OE60 has a very short response time with an accuracy of up to 1 µm and requires no additional filtering. Any change in orientation of the amplitude edge can be detected without momentary delay. Even at high speeds, the OE60 can reliably detect all edges of the cell production line, which significantly improves the quality of the cell products.

OE40 has obvious advantages in the packaging industry. For example, in the packaging sealing of bright film feeding process scene, ordinary photoelectric sensors can not accurately and reliably measure the bright film edge position, but this edge detection sensor with reflector support can easily cope with, this is due to its use of special bright object measurement form, can ensure the stability of the process.

Baumer's OXS edge detection sensor scans differently than comparable 2D smart vision sensors and thus transmits the orientation data of the object to be measured at a higher rate. As long as the object or tool is supplied with the appropriate feature and distance information, the OXS edge detection sensor is able to detect the target with a high degree of generalization. This advantage allows it to cope with a wide range of industrial scenarios, including in-line shape inspection, scale accuracy checking, orientation manipulation, robotic precision localization, and warehouse robot manipulation, to name just a few.

Outstanding quality, broad prospects

With the rapid development of China's new energy vehicles and photovoltaic lithium energy storage and other professions, as well as the packaging and printing industry's market volume continues to progress, many Baumer edge detection sensors will also be well used. The advantages of compact installation and reliable measurement of edge detection sensors also make them not only suitable for battery and packaging industry, but also other usage scenarios are under active development.
