KROHNE, recently released the OPTIWAVE 1520 and OPTIWAVE 1540 two-wire 80 GHz radar level meters.

With the introduction of these two surfaces, the OPTIWAVE 15xx product line has been expanded - from now on, the cost-effective 80 GHz radar with HART/Bluetooth communication can be easily adapted to many common application scenarios.

The compact OPTIWAVE 1520 and OPTIWAVE 1540 feature a lens antenna with a flush front and a rugged PVDF housing.

These IP68 rated surfaces can handle both liquid and solid applications. The intuitive and easy-to-use “Quick Setup Guide” concludes the setup without the need for practice or specialized skills.

The OPTIWAVE 1520 is particularly suitable for short spaces or open-air applications. Typical applications are the measurement of slurry water, sewage and clarified water in pumping stations, screw jacks or above tanks.

Thanks to the converging beam angle, it is also ideal for small particle silos, small tanks with internal structural elements and applications where measurement dead zones cannot be tolerated.

The OPTIWAVE 1520 has a measuring plan of 0...10 m and an accuracy of ±5 mm / 0.2”.

Thanks to its excellent measurement dynamics, it provides reliable measurement even in the presence of condensation or liquid level irregularities.

Even in the presence of condensation or an unstable liquid level, the radar is able to provide reliable measurement values and meet the requirements for high accuracy (±2 mm / 0.08“, measurement plan 0...15 m / 0...49”).

The radar can also be used as a flow meter - depending on the geometry of the venturi and the height of the liquid level in it, the flow rate in the open channel is calculated.

In addition, the OPTIWAVE 1540 is ideally suited for sewer overflow systems and river level measurements (e.g. for flood warning systems).

Setting up and commissioning of the surface can be done easily and conveniently on a smartphone or tablet using the quick guide in the OPTICHECK Level Mobile application.

Alternatively, OPTICHECK DTM can be used for setup using HART communication.

In addition, the “OPTICHECK technology built-in” on the surface enables comprehensive equipment diagnosis and on-site checking - without interrupting the process, a check of the equipment condition can be generated at the touch of a button.
