It can be used to measure 360° rotational angles and provides precise angle measurements over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, maintaining high accuracy and stability over the widest range of temperature and magnetic field variations.
The series is based on an integrated planar Hall array that converts the magnetic field component perpendicular to the chip surface into a voltage signal, which is amplified and filtered for analogue-to-digital conversion (ADC).
The output of the ADC is then processed as an input to the CORDIC algorithm module of the DSP to calculate the angle and magnitude of the magnetic field vector.
The angular position information of the two-pole magnet is converted into analogue voltage, PWM, SPI, UVW and other outputs by the internal DSP.
The NSM301x family of chips features an automatic gain (AGC) adjustment module, which allows the gain of the signal path to be adjusted to suit different mechanical constraints and magnetic fields.
This approach offers maximum flexibility in system design and can be directly integrated into existing architectures to provide high accuracy.
High accuracy standard High sensitivity measurement
The NSM301x series of Hall-effect angle sensors provide a 14-bit linear DAC analogue output/12-bit resolution PWM output and a 14-bit SPI angle output.
The NSM301x series provides an angular output with an accuracy of ±1° over the full temperature range, and the series supports four-stage segmented fitting with an accuracy of ±0.2° after four-stage calibration.
Differential Inputs Resistant to Stray External Magnetic Fields
The NSM301x series of Hall-effect angle sensors have four integrated planar Hall elements that are sensitive to magnetic field changes in the Z-direction only, and are immune to stray magnetic field changes in the X- and Y-axes.
By differentially amplifying two pairs of opposing Hall elements, the four Hall elements produce a sine signal and a cosine signal for subsequent CORDIC operations.
Because of the differential inputs, uniform magnetic field disturbances in the Z-axis direction are likewise cancelled out. Thus, the sensor chips of this series are resistant to interference from stray magnetic fields in the X/Y/Z direction.
User Programmable Supports Short Travel Applications
The NSM301x series of Hall-effect angle sensors provide three-wire SPI and single-wire OWI user-programmable communication interfaces.
The user can rewrite the non-volatile memory module (MTP) under 5V supply voltage to achieve customised configuration and online calibration for application scenarios.
User configurable 4-segment linearisation, direction of rotation, angular zero, SON threshold, output speed, output clamp, automatic gain adjustment, dynamic angle compensation time, etc.
This series of angle sensors support short travel applications, can be <360 ° input angle conversion to full scale output, to meet the throttle, water valve and other small opening angle detection of high-resolution requirements.
Multiple Output Interfaces
The NSM301x series of Hall-effect angle sensors provide a three-wire SPI interface, a single-wire OWI interface for signal path configuration and an erasable programming register block (MTP).
The NSM3011 supports 3.3V and 5V supply voltages (different supply versions).
NSM3011 supports analogue outputs/PWM outputs.
NSM3012 supports analogue output/PWM output, SPI communication.
NSM3013 supports analogue output/PWM output, UVW output, SON function
