The UDC1200 and UDC1700 are microprocessor-based 1/16 DIN and 1/8 DIN controllers that offer high functionality, high reliability and low cost.

They are designed to monitor and control temperature, pressure and level in a variety of applications such as environmental chambers, furnaces, ovens, packaging machines and other applications in the plastics, food and beverage industries.

Easier Configuration

Two different configuration levels (Configuration Mode and Setup Mode) provide easy access to parameters.

4-digit security code prevents unauthorised changes.

Positive Moisture Protection

Meets NEMA 3 / IP65 standards for frontal dust and water resistance.

Universal Inputs

Accepts seven different types of thermocouple, RTD, current and voltage linear inputs. All inputs can be configured as standard.

Universal Power Supplies

The UDC1200 and UDC1700 can operate on any line voltage from 50/60 Hz, 90 Vac to 264 Vac. Optional 24/48 Vac/dc models are also available.

Easy Upgrade

All option boards have no jumpers and are automatically detected by the instrument.

Easy Output Selection

All of the instrument's outputs, including the control output, can be changed to meet the customer's exact needs.

Alarm strategies

Two PV soft alarms, deviation high/low/absolute. A special loop alarm is also available, by continuously analysing the PV

response to the control output. Alarm suppression is available for both power-up and setpoint switching.

Manual/Auto Mode

Manual control can be enabled (via unbuffered transfer) by simply pressing the AUTO/MAN key on the front.

The "SETUP" LED flashes and the output power is shown on the lower display. The output power can be adjusted with the up and down keys.

Pre-Tuning and Self-Tuning Strategies

Pre-tuning is used to set the PID parameters to near optimum values, which are then used by the self-tuning algorithm to optimise the tuning parameters.

Limit Controller

The UDC1200 Limit Controller is available in a 1/16 DIN package and provides a safety shutdown function and optional alarms for a variety of applications.

Up to three outputs

The UDC1200 and UDC1700 provide up to three outputs for time and current proportioning, duplex mode (heating/cooling), PV or SP retransmission and alarms.

Setpoint Ramping

The current setpoint can be ramped to a new target setpoint with a user-defined slope.

Dual Setpoints

The UDC1200 and UDC1700 offer a dual setpoint option. The current setpoint is selected by a digital input. This option is independent of the UDC1200 limit mode remote alarm reset function.

Communication

The UDC1200 and UDC1700 are available with an optional RS485 communications interface. It provides connectivity for up to 32 devices and host computers at speeds up to 19200 baud via ASCII or Modbus RTU protocol.
