Output Connector Types: Three types of female mating connectors are available for use with the P3 and P4 interfaces: 96-pin mass termination (IDC) connectors, 64-pin IDC connectors, and 96-pin discrete wire connectors.

Discrete wire connectors require a housing with a retaining bar. We recommend the Harting housing.

Its order number is 09 03 096 0501. This housing latches the discrete wire cable to the board connector and provides strain relief.

Input/Output Organization: 16 output ports, 8-bit wide, 128 total outputs.

Addressable to any address within Short-Circuit Monitor and/or Short-Circuit Non-Privileged or Short-Circuit Monitor and/or Short-Circuit Non-Privileged or Short-Circuit Non-Privileged.

Standard Monitor and/or Standard Unprivileged I/O mapping.

Addressing Scheme: 32 bytes, individually addressable on 8. 16. or 32-bit boundaries. The board ID register is located at the board's base address.

The Control and Status Register (CSR) is stacked on top of the ID register. 16 output bytes are located above the CSR. 20 jumpers identify the board's base address.

Another jumper is used for the standard or short address.

Output Drivers: The output drivers provide overcurrent (short circuit) and thermal shutdown protection. The overcurrent protection has a minimum current of 370 mA, allowing safe operation at currents up to 350 mA.

The thermal shutdown function depends on

Thermal shutdown is a function of load, number of channels turned on per byte, and duty cycle. Figure 3 shows the allowable output current at 25 and 50 °C as a function of duty cycle and number of channels turned on.

Since thermal shutdown limits the allowable output current for many applications, a heavy load option is provided by connecting two output devices in parallel.

Parallel Placement. Connecting two devices in parallel may or may not double the short-circuit protection current. However, the overload protection (thermal shutdown) current is doubled.
