GE Mark VIe Series IS420YAICS1B Analogue I/O Module

This IS420YAICS1B modular assembly from General Electric was originally designed and manufactured with the specific functional role of analogue I/O packages in mind for placement within the larger Mark VIe family of turbine control systems.

As its full extended series name implies, the Mark VIe family to which this IS420YAICS1B modular assembly belongs is in the popular, General Electric-compatible wind,

management and control systems for gas and steam turbines.

This is an upgrade to the heavily relied upon Mark V series, which only has specific applications in gas and steam turbine components.

It is a fact that the Mark VIe series, to which this IS420YAICS1B product belongs, is also recognised as the ideal General Electric Mark product family.

This is because it is one of the final GE Mark product families to be developed, utilising the patented Speedtronic control system technology that first appeared in the Mark I family introduced in the mid to late 1960s.

Hardware Tips and Specifications

Analogue I/O Pack IS420YAICS1B is part of the Mark VIe series manufactured by General Electric.

This I/O pack allows connection between up to two Ethernet and one terminated analogue I/O board.

The kit can handle up to 10 analogue inputs, two of which can be configured as ±1 mA or 4-20 mA current inputs, and the remaining eight as ±5 V or ±10 V inputs, or 4-20 mA current loop inputs.

The kit can send and receive data over dual RJ45 Ethernet connectors.

For convenience, this IS420YAICS1B I/O package consists of two components; a general processor board and a data acquisition board, as described in the IS420YAICS1B instruction manual that accompanies our manual tab above.

The diagnostic fault detection process for this IS420YAICS1B product is handled entirely through its data acquisition board.

The relevant terminal boards employed in the ruggedly supported modular components of the YAIC analogue I/O kit are the TBAISIC and STAIS2A terminal boards, which are also considered components of the larger Mark VIe turbine control system family.

This IS420YAICS1B device is not actually an original development for its specific Mark VIe Turbine Control System family of features;.

This must be regarded as an IS420YAICS1 parent analogue I/O package, and notably it does not take advantage of the uniquely important Class B functional product revisions of this IS420YAICS1B product.

Whilst various units in the Mark VIe range can be used in dual, TMR or simplex redundancy applications, the IS420YAICS1B I/O package can only be used in TMR or simplex applications.

Note, however, that when using this package in a TMR redundancy application, three I/O packages will be used, whereas only one I/O package will be used in a simplex redundancy application.

Another important caveat is that all I/O packs in the TMR set must be in the same hardware form.

There is another version of the YAIC I/O pack labelled IS420YAICS1A PACK, please note that these pack versions cannot be mixed on the same T-Terminal board.

The IS420YAICS1B I/O pack can perform a number of self-diagnostic tests, some of which are power-up self-tests that will check the flash and RAM memory, most of the processor board hardware, and the Ethernet ports on the pack.

The kit can also continuously monitor the internal power supply to ensure proper operation. This IS420YAICS1B device is present in Group 1 of the Mark VIe Turbine Control System family of products, as described in the IS420YAICS1B Functional Product Number.
