Serial Communications

The serial communications expansion module provides a Modbus Master port for a Genius NIU remote I/O drop . 

The serial port can be used to interface with a wide range of Modbus slave devices such as controllers, VFDs, bar code readers, marques and much more .

The data is transferred to and from the NIU over the Genius LAN and is compatible with any controller that supports Genius Global Data .  

About the IC200CMM020

The GE Fanuc IC200CMM020 module is a Versamax compatible serial communication module.

It is used as a Modbus master module to configure Versamax I/O by using Genius' NIU.

Serial ports are present in the module to interface with different slave devices by including controllers, readers and VFDs.

Data and information from these devices is transferred between the Network Interface Units (NIUs) via the local network.

This data is compatible with the different controllers that process the Genius global data.The IC200CMM020 module can connect up to 2 I/O stations at a time*.

It is equipped with an RS-485 port, a 15-pin D-type connector and an RS-232 port.

The IC200CMM020 module has different baud rates of 1200. 2400. 4800. 9600. or 19200 baud with full and half duplex operation.

The communication module draws a total of 5 milliamps of current at 460 output volts and 3 milliamps of current at 5.3 output volts.

The GE Fanuc IC200CMM020 module itself is compact, measuring 4.3 inches wide by 2.63 inches high. The depth is 1.956 inches.

The IC200CMM020 module can be easily configured through a generic COMM using a programmer.

The data length of the module should be configured to zero during communication between the module and the Ethernet controller.

The controller has an open architecture and can only be used for indoor purposes. The module has safety and protection features.

Whenever overcurrent is detected in the module, an internal current limit switch locks out the circuit and performs damage control.

There are LED indicators on the front of the module to indicate different operations.
