Functional Description

The DS200PTBAG1A is a protective core terminal block manufactured by General Electric as part of the Mark V series used in gas turbine control systems.

The signals from the core are terminated by a Protective Terminal Block (PTBA) located in the core. Connected to the PTBA terminal block on the TCEB board are input signals for high and low pressure shaft speed, flame detection, generator and bus voltages, and generator current.

The core is also connected to the speed signals. The Turbine Trip (TCTG) board in the core is written directly after the PTBA terminal board reads the external trip input signals, the generator and bus signals, and the generator breaker closing signal.

Through the PTBA terminal board, the TCTG board writes the trip output signals and generator circuit breaker closure signals to the device.

Using the hardware jumpers on the PTBA board, the TCEB board's audio alarm (horn) is energised.

PTBA connector:

JJR - Writes high voltage and low voltage shaft speed signals to the TCQE board in the core.

JM - Reads and writes the emergency trip output of the TCTG board in the core and the generator circuit breaker signal (52GL).

JN - Reads and writes the external trip signal to the TCTG board in the core, writes the enable signal to the horn, and reads and writes the generator circuit breaker signal (G125P).

JU - Writes the audible alarm (horn) enable, flame detection, and emergency overspeed signals to the TCEB board in the core.

JV - Writes PT and CT current signals and generator and bus voltage signals to the TCEB board in the core.

JVA - Distributes 335 VDC from the TCEB board in the P1 core to the flame detection device.

JJS/T - Not commonly used.

The GE Terminal Board DS200PTBAG1A has 2 terminal blocks with terminals for 72 signal wires in each block.

It also contains 3 10-pin connectors. 10-pin connectors are ID'd as JJR, JJT, and JJS.

It also contains terminals for 6 signal lines. In terms of dimensions, the GE Termination Board DS200PTBAG1A is 3 inches high by 11.5 inches wide, with 1 hole in each corner for connecting the board to the board carrier inside the drive.

Since there are numerous signal wires and ribbon cables connected to the board, the best practice is to determine where the signal wires are connected on the board and plan to connect the wires to the same connectors on the replacement board.

Failure to connect the signal wires to the same terminals will result in increased drive downtime while the signal wires are connected to the correct terminals, which will inconvenience field operations and reduce productivity.

To prevent this, check the old board on the drive with all signal lines and ribbon cables still connected. Use the terminal IDs to mark the signal wires where they are connected.

One terminal has an ID of TB1 and the other TB2. To identify a specific terminal, use the terminal's numeric ID. e.g., TB1 27 is the terminal on TB1 terminal 27.

TB2 70 is terminal 70 on terminal TB2. you may find it helpful to create labels for marking the ID.

This DS200PTBAG1A Protective Termination Board uses some customisable hardware in its assembly, most notably its manually removable hardware jumper.

This jumper is included in the assembly of this DS200PTBAG1A Protective Termination Module as it controls the audible alarm or horn that comes standard with this General Electric product.

To silence the horn included in this PTBA abbreviated termination module assembly, the DS200PTBAG1A board administrator must completely remove the hardware jumper described above.

This DS200PTBAG1A protected termination board plays a critical role in the specification function of the associated Mark V series boards, TCEB and TCTG.
