Designed for high reliability on the plant's most critical rotating machinery, the Speed and Critical Monitor monitors speed, phase, zero speed and direction of rotation.

This 1-slot monitor is used in conjunction with the AMS 6500 monitor to form a complete API 670 machinery protection monitor.

Applications include steam, gas, compressor and hydraulic turbine machinery.

The speed and key monitors can be configured in redundant mode for automatic switching from primary to standby speed.

Sensor gap voltages and pulse counting/comparison are monitored to trigger the switchover.

When the speed and key monitor is operated in redundant mode, the primary and failover keys or speed displacement sensors must be mounted in the same axial plane to ensure phase continuity during failover.

Velocity measurements consist of displacement sensors mounted inside the machine targeting rotating gears, keyways, or cogwheels on the shaft.

The purpose of the speed measurement is to sound an alarm at zero speed, monitor reverse rotation, and provide speed measurements to track process conditions for advanced analysis.

Key or phase measurements also consist of displacement sensors, but must have a target of one revolution per revolution, rather than a gear or cog as the target.

Phase measurement is a key parameter for detecting changes in machine health.

The AMS 6500 is an integral part of PlantWeb® and AMS software.

PlantWeb combines the Ovation® and DeltaV™ process control systems to provide operators with an integrated view of machine health.

AMS software provides maintenance personnel with advanced predictive and performance diagnostic tools, enabling them to identify machine failures early with confidence and accuracy.

Dual-channel 3U plug-in modules reduce cabinet space requirements by half compared to traditional four-channel 6U cards

API 670-compliant hot-swappable modules

Remotely selectable limit multiplication and trip bypass

Post-buffered proportional outputs, 0/4-20 mA outputs
