Weidmüller's new EcoLine B series switches

Recently, Weidmüller launched a new unmanaged switch, the EcoLine B series, which stands out from the crowd due to its compactness and high performance. The new switches have been extended with features such as Quality of Service (QoS) and Broadcast Storm Protection (BSP).

The new switches support Quality of Service (QoS). This feature manages the prioritization of data traffic and schedules priorities between different applications and services to minimize transmission latency. This ensures that business-critical applications are always executed at a high priority, while other tasks are automatically processed in order of priority. Thanks to this principle, the new switches are Profinet Conformance Class A compliant, making the EcoLine B Series available for real-time industrial Ethernet such as Profinet.

In addition to high performance, a reliable and stable network is essential for the smooth operation of production lines, and the EcoLine B Series switches protect the network from “broadcast storms”. If a device or application fails, a large number of broadcast messages flood the network, which can lead to system failure.” The Broadcast Storm Protection (BSP) feature maintains network reliability by detecting and automatically limiting excessive messages. This feature prevents potential network outages and ensures that data traffic is stabilized.

The EcoLine B Series is more compact than other switches. Their narrow body is ideal for installation in electrical cabinets where space is limited. The DIN rail can be rotated by 90 degrees (only for this new product, contact the Weidmüller product department for details), so the EcoLine B series can be mounted horizontally or vertically in electrical cabinets, and can even be easily installed in spaces close to cable ducts.

The industrial metal housing ensures that the switches are durable and resistant to shock, vibration, and other environmental influences, extending equipment life and minimizing downtime. In addition, the new switch not only achieves 60 percent energy savings compared to previous models, but also reduces overall electrical cabinet operating costs by using cardboard packaging that can be recycled without being separated from other waste.
