Recently, Weidmüller launched a new unmanaged switch, the EcoLine B series.

The EcoLine B series stands out from the crowd of switches due to its compactness and high performance.

The new switches have been extended with features such as Quality of Service (QoS) and Broadcast Storm Protection (BSP).

The new switches support Quality of Service (QoS). This feature manages the prioritisation of data traffic.

It manages the prioritisation of data traffic and schedules priorities between different applications and services to minimise transmission latency.

This ensures that business-critical applications are always executed with high priority, while other tasks are automatically processed in order of priority.

Thanks to this principle, the new switches comply with the Profinet Conformance Class A standard, so that the EcoLine B Series can be used for real-time industrial Ethernet such as Profinet.

In order to ensure the smooth operation of production lines, a reliable and stable network is essential in addition to the requirement for high-performance products.

EcoLine B Series switches protect the network from "broadcast storms".

If a device or application fails, a large number of broadcast messages flood the network, which can lead to system failure.

"The Broadcast Storm Protection (BSP) feature maintains network reliability by detecting and automatically limiting excessive messages.

This feature prevents potential network outages and ensures stable data traffic.

The EcoLine B Series is more compact than other switches.

Their narrow body is ideal for installation in electrical cabinets where space is limited.

The matching DIN rail can be swivelled by 90 degrees (only for this new product, contact the Weidmüller product department for details).

The EcoLine B series can therefore be installed both horizontally and vertically in electrical cabinets, and can even be easily installed in spaces close to cable ducts.

The switch is designed to extend the life of the equipment and minimise downtime. In addition, the new switches are not only 60 per cent more energy efficient than previous models, but they are also packaged in cardboard packaging, eliminating the need for a cable duct.
