For more efficient automated production - M12 connectors for SMT
Some of the products in the Binder M12 series are available in a version suitable for surface mount technology (SMT).
On the one hand, these products offer great advantages for space-constrained planning and, on the other hand, the excellent automation properties make production more automated and efficient, thus reducing production costs.
As a leading supplier of industrial circular connectors, Binder has launched the M12 series of partial surface mount products (SMDs).
The SMDs are particularly suitable for fully automated production processes, e.g. for double-sided assemblies of PCBs with particularly high densities, and for applications such as automation, sensors, actuators and robotics.
SMDs: saving space and reducing production costs
In the miniaturisation of electronic components, SMDs have proved their worth in the processing of highly densely packed components.
In contrast to the traditional through-hole technology (THT) and through-hole reflow (THR) processes, in the surface mount process (SMT), SMDs pins are placed directly on the PCB and soldered with solder paste.
and soldered with solder paste instead of being inserted into the PCB for soldering. This leads to space savings.
For example, many connectors can be soldered in small intervals on a single plane, which is also required for passive/active sensor distributors in automation skills.
SMDs are often supplied to customers in carrier tape, a packaging method that facilitates further processing.
In addition to saving space for PCB assembly, this ability to automate production is a clear advantage of external surface mount.
The external mount is cost-effective, especially for high volume production and processing, or for the installation of multiple connectors on the same PCB board.
In addition, heat dissipation and signal integrity are ensured during the assembly process and errors are reduced.
Binder's SMT products
Binder's SMT products are available in 4.6- and 8-pole counts with different positioning codes and in both shielded and unshielded versions.
M12 connectors are also available in different versions, e.g. as flange connectors with different housings or as embedded parts in tape and reel packages for automated processes.
Specifically, these include M12-A coded connectors of the 713/763 series; M12-A coded connectors of the 715/766 series; and M12-A coded connectors of the 715/766 series.
M12-B coded connectors of the 715/766 series; M12-D coded connectors of the 825/876 series; and M12-X connectors of the 876 series.
According to the different codes mentioned above, the M12-SMT version connectors are suitable for different applications: A-code for sensors and DC power supply devices;
The B code is suitable for field buses; the D and X codes are suitable for 100 Mbit and 10 Gbit Ethernet transmission respectively.
All Binder M12 products will be available with an industrial protection rating of IP67 for water and dust protection.
All products are also designed with PCB cut-outs in line with current market norms, which will mean that users will be able to replace Binder products without having to worry about compatibility issues.
