560NMS34 - Integrated Managed Switch with 1 SDSL Port and 4 Ethernet Ports
Integrated managed Layer 2 switch
4 10/100 BaseT ports (RJ45. electrical, auto-negotiation)
1 SDSL port for copper wiring
Redundant topology via (Rapid) Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)
1 RS-232 port for serial protocols
Applications
The RTU component of the 560NMS34 is a managed, plug-and-play Layer 2 switch.
Provides 4 Fast Ethernet auto-negotiation with automatic MDI/X (automatic crossover detection and correction)
RJ45 ports and a two-wire SDSL port for dedicated copper. It can be used with Rack Models 560MPR01. 560MPR03. and 560SFR02.
The switch is used to distribute Ethernet within the station via the RJ45 port.
The switch is used to distribute Ethernet within the station via the RJ45 ports. The SDSL port can be used to connect to stations up to a maximum distance of 20 km (0.8 mm diameter copper cable).
The SDSL port can be used to connect stations over a maximum distance of 20 km (0.8 mm diameter copper cable). The switch provides a redundant topology via (fast) spanning tree protocol. The switch supports VLAN framing and serial data tunneling.
Characteristics
Ethernet ports are labeled 1 through 4 for documentation purposes.
SDSL ports are connected via the backplane. There are no specific uplink ports.
All ports are functionally identical.
The link and speed status of each Ethernet port and SDSL port is indicated by status indicators (see “Connectors and Indicators”).
The switch learns Ethernet addresses by analyzing incoming frames and stores them in a lookup table (up to 2048 entries),
used to forward frames only to the correct port. If the frame is
widecast or multicast, or the destination address is not found in the lookup table, the received frame is forwarded to the correct port.
If an entry in the lookup table is not refreshed by an incoming frame with a specific source address
then it is aged out for a maximum of 304 seconds.
Maximum 304 seconds (default, configurable).
For IEEE 802.1Q VLAN frames, the switch can be configured in VLAN or transparent mode. In transparent mode
the switch does not change any frames or frame TAGs; in VLAN
mode, the switch can be configured to support a variety of applications, such as
trunking or access ports.
The switch will support quality of service if it uses an IEEE 802.1p-compliant frame format.
The switch can support quality of service if the frame format is IEEE 802.1p compliant. The switch can divide frames
into up to four queues, which can be configured as priority queues or weighted fair queues.
The switch uses a 5 V supply voltage, which can be set as the internal RTU power supply or via a jumper.
It can be set to internal RTU power or external power via jumpers.
The components themselves, the Ethernet ports, as well as the SDSL
connections and RS232 interfaces are hot-swappable.
Use the 560NMS24 unit as a repeater for longer distance transmission.
Connectors and Indicators
The switch consists of four equal RJ45 Ethernet ports, a SDSL
transceiver, and an RS-232 interface for configuration and transmission of serial data. Each RJ45 port can be connected to Cat. 3 (10 Mbps)
or Cat. 5 (100 Mbps) Ethernet cable connections up to 100 meters. The cables can only be used for internal connections.
Crossover cables are not required because the RJ45 ports of the 560NMS34 switch support automatic MDI/X.
The SDSL interface can be connected to customer-provided two-wire copper cable.
The maximum bridging distance for 0.8 diameter copper cable with a transmission rate of 192 kbps is 20 kilometers.
Depending on the distance, the transmission rate
The status of any switch port can be indicated by two LEDs.
The status of a port can be indicated by two LEDs.
These are located above and below the RJ45.
Ethernet (RJ45)
The green link LED (labeled L) indicates that the Ethernet connection is active.
Active:
- Off - no connection
- On - Ethernet connection established (link)
- Blinking - Ethernet activity (transmitting or receiving frames)
The yellow Speed LED (labeled S) indicates a 10 or 100 Mbps connection.
Speed Status:
- Off - Ethernet speed is 10 Mbps
- On - Ethernet speed is 100 Mbps
