Continental Offers Multi-Sensor Fusion Software and Hardware System Solutions

Recently, Continental has received a mass production order for the 5R1V multi-sensor fusion system solution from a high-profile new car-making company in China, helping the new car-making company to build a mass production project of L2-level autonomous driving, and planning to be the first to go into production on the first electric vehicle of the new car-making company in 2024. In this project, the 5R1V multi-sensor fusion system solution consists of an 8-megapixel smart camera, a 5th generation forward-facing millimeter wave radar (long range radar) and a corner radar (short range radar). It is worth noting that Continental offers its customers software services for L2-level automated driving and driving safety functions, and that the function packages will be integrated into the customer's Intelligent Driving Domain Controller.

The smart camera in the system is developed and produced by Continental Core Intelligent Driving (Shanghai) Intelligent Technology Company, a joint venture established by Continental and China's smart driving chip leader Horizon, based on the Horizon Journey?3 chip. Relying on strong computing power support and algorithms, the company achieves more accurate visual perception and intelligent driving decision control, and is optimized for China's road scenes, with better object recognition performance, such as being able to detect special obstacles and traffic lights unique to China. Continental has a number of core technologies and a complete product portfolio in the field of intelligent driving.
