Allied Vision has announced three new models of the Alvium 1800 U-series cameras featuring Sony's fourth-generation IMX sensors with Pregius S global shutter technology. The three camera models are the Alvium 1800 U-511 (Sony IMX547), Alvium 1800 U-811 (Sony IMX546) and Alvium 1800 U-1242 (Sony IMX545). With the release of these three new models, the Alvium series fleet with USB3 ports is now up to 19 models. All models offer a choice of housing types (closed housing, open housing, bare plate), black and white or colour sensors, and different lens ports, with the USB port placed on the back of the camera or on the left side (back-to-sensor view).
Wide range of sensor options to suit every need
The Alvium 1800 U-511 features the Sony IMX547 global shutter sensor, which measures just 1/1.8‘’ and is the first Sony 5.1 MP global shutter sensor for Allied Vision Compact S-mount lenses. At the same time, the sensor has the same aspect ratio and resolution as the IMX264. but with a more compact overall size. Compared to the Sony IMX265 sensor (mounted to the Alvium U-319 or Mako G-319 cameras), this sensor offers higher resolution in a nearly identical size. The Alvium 1800 U-511 with Sony's fourth-generation IMX547 sensor is undoubtedly a more attractive alternative than existing models with Sony's second-generation sensor.
The Alvium 1800 U-811 features Sony's square IMX546 sensor with a resolution of up to 8.1 MP. This model is particularly suited to inspection tasks involving round or square objects, as well as microscopy-related applications.
The 12.4 MP Alvium 1800 U-1242 is equipped with the Sony IMX545 sensor. With a smaller pixel size (2.74 μm) than Sony's second-generation IMX304 sensor, this sensor provides the same resolution in a smaller footprint.
All models offer a choice of black and white and colour versions, while the 1800 C model comes with a CSI-2 interface.
800 USB camera additions
This camera series offers a richer feature set in addition to a new sensor. All Alvium 1800 U models (both B&W and colour versions) now include a pixel merge function. Pixels can be merged vertically (Y-axis direction), horizontally (X-axis direction), or both vertically and horizontally (pixel merge factor: 1. 2. 4. 8). The pixel merge mode can be defined as mean or sum.Allied Vision is the only manufacturer to date to offer colour pixel merge as standard.
Another new feature of the USB3 camera is the U3 Power Saving Mode. When activated, the camera's power consumption drops to 16mA or 80mW during shooting, and the camera returns to normal operation within 1.5 seconds of disabling the power saving mode. This is especially useful in battery-powered applications where shooting is frequently interrupted. The inclusion of this feature extends the overall operating hours of the camera.
